PREPARATION OF BODY - MIND FOR MEDITATION - DHYANA

UNDERSTANDING PRANAYAMA, BENEFITS OF ITS PRACTICE

Discipline is required for respiration in Pranayama. One should observe the difference for the usual, natural, process of respiration, and for the controlled, Pranayama. There is a limit for usual natural inhalation; exhalation too is of like that only! The ‘neutral control’, which is present in between both of them, itself, is Pranayama. The time of withhold between inhalation – exhalation itself is benefit of Pranayama. The practice of Pranayama means, that only! The support of organs of respiration is very much necessary for this. Their functional health situation itself is that support. Usually, in any practice or learning firstly by following the ‘biological instinct’ related to it, one should try for the increase of its duration. In the practice of yoga and Pranayama, this care would give a great result.

Controlled breathing is a prerequisite for meditation. Systemized breathing, not only as a separate procedure, but also during the process of performing yogasanas, has a significant role in the "Asana – Pranayama – Dhyana" technique. By following the controlled type of inhalation - exhalation, and retention time interval, not limiting just to respiratory organs, along with that, by following 'yoga' in a systematic manner, with the ability to 'oscillate', complete body also, rhythmically, there would be, more benefit for the practice of Pranayama. For Pranayama, the functional condition, of the respiratory organs, is needed.

In Pranayama, the result of controlled breathing would be in stages. If so, whether it is in natural habitual respiration or in its control, if one follows the course of activity – there would be result and the benefit of its related utilization.

Such a thing as ‘contemplation on the respiration’, in the practice of Pranayama, is a slogan. Also a method. Usual ‘contemplation’ means, to that extent stability of mind only. The difference between respiration and contemplation is exactly the same, as the distance between, meditation and ‘absentmindedness’; even so, contemplation and absentmindedness are not the same. In the matter of involuntary (uncontrolled) activity  of vital, respiration and contemplation, there is chance for regulation (control). Even so, through the concentration of the controlled contemplation on the uncontrolled (involuntary) respiration, there is a chance for control of respiration. That itself is a good cooperation for the benefit of Pranayama. If so, in the beginning although it is indeed somewhat difficult to contemplate on the respiration, although it is felt like that, in the order of practice, contemplation, respiration unite and turn into an involuntary (uncontrolled) one. Thereafter, in the practice of Pranayama, indeed of support for control of respiration.

Although necessary oxygen is being supplied to the body through the natural process of respiration, through the regulation of Pranayama inhalation – exhalation, the extent of oxygen that the body acquires would function effectively only. Thereby there would be chance for the purification of organs of the body. In this way, while respiration causes PrAna-Shakti, food, water, would supply, that which are required for the nourishment of the body. The utilization of the vital elements itself is the process of respiration, water, food acceptance and its related process of excretion.

As the characteristic feature of body, by means of appearance of hindrance, for the biochemical activities because of impurities, with occurrence of disease, occurrence of disruption to the movement of daily life is, natural. Principally, the impurities, in the blood, may cause hindrance, to its circulation. So also, deficiency may occur for the supply of oxygen usually needed, for the biochemical activity, of the physical body. In that state, by means of supplying more, oxygen, than the usual state, through Pranayama, with the elimination of that deficiency, and scarcity, with the increase of speed of circulation of blood even more, with the elimination/excretion of impurities (dirt), in it, the possibility, for the internal, impurities lacking body, to be healthy, may be acquired, through this Pranayama… If so, this is, a usual advantage only... In the spiritual practice of KunDalinI Yoga, Pranayama process, storage of energy… is another method.

Pure oxygen is deficient to breathe under the current polluted environment. By 6AM, when one starts the daily activities, this pollution, at an intense level, would be spread by then itself. Oxygen would be very scarcely available, for us to breathe. For that very reason, if this activity is carried between 3AM and 6AM (“Time of Brahma”), the Aerosols would settle down, and if Pranayama is done when it is peaceful, oxygen would reach the cells abundantly, reach the brain cells, it would cooperate in keeping the individual in peace and in emotional balance. There would be hemo development. Neurons would elevate. The entire system would function very well so that it would be lively.

Breathing, means, a reflex action (involuntary activity), which provides oxygen, which is needed for the Life Force in the body, usually. In the method of meditation, ‘breathing’ means… inhalation and exhalation related principle and regulation. This itself, may be considered as Pranayama. Pranayama is a controlled breathing technique in which every inhalation and exhalation is followed by 'holding of breath'. One has to achieve control over respiration. By means of controlling it, since there is a chance to acquire some more benefit, one should regulate (control) that respiration, and regulate it in accordance with some specific timing. One should not breathe with 'mouth'. Pranayama means…, in the usual meaning, to develop, the Life Force, in the body; thereby, to activate/stimulate the physical – mental metabolic activity.

By following the controlled type of inhalation – exhalation, and retention time interval, not limiting just to respiratory organs, along with that, by following 'yoga' in a systematic manner, with the ability to 'oscillate', complete body also, rhythmically, there would be, more benefit for the practice of Pranayama.

By means of Pranayama, oxygen reaches the body, brain and nervous system abundantly resulting in purification of neurons. Whenever the nerves get activated, through Pranayama when abundant oxygen reaches all the cells, nerve fibers and Glial cells in the brain – a peaceful environment will be created in the brain. The same oxygen will function as the 'Vital Power' to the neurons in the brain. Consequently, neurons, by becoming functionally energetic, that would be very much useful, to the action – reaction of the mind, which ultimately helps in minimizing the thoughts. Not only that, more than through regular inhalation – exhalation needed, for the circulation of blood, for excretion of impurities in it, for Life Force, and for the existence of body, the oxygen that is obtained by means of Pranayama, converting into Vital Power, it becomes 'plus' point to mind. If so, this ‘plus’ point would be different in accordance with, the methods of performance of Pranayama. With this, to make, the Life Force of body, powerful, to make the willpower (strength of mind), to be helpful for the functional activities – the result of Pranayama would be, in the aforesaid two ways. For the peacefulness of mind, this is, indeed an indirect cooperation only.

By means of supplying more, oxygen, than usual state, through Pranayama, with the elimination of deficiency, and scarcity (of oxygen), with the increase of speed of circulation of blood even more, with the elimination/excretion of impurities (dirt), in it, the possibility, for the internal, impurities lacking body, to be healthy, may be acquired, through this Pranayama...

More part of oxygen, which is obtained through Pranayama, reaches brain neurons. So, thereby the quantity, quality of vital power (vitality) improves. Thereby there is chance for the reserve of PrAna-Shakti in the body (in the form of blood). In the same way, by increasing the immune strength, immune system, like it is helpful for the health of the body, by the strengthening the neurons of vital improvement, it keeps the activity of mind constructively and innovative. Mental strength is like boon to human being. Thereby with the ‘self’ united with mind, with the mind combined with the self (human) only, there would be more chance for the proper utilization of the life. Thereby along with successful ideal materiality so also, ‘power’ful (energetic) spirituality, there would be more chances for the divine feeling of compassion. In this way, Pranayama for the functional discipline of organs, and ‘Osculate Mind Beyond’ for the mental strength functions as the cooperative factor for the constructive emergence.

In the biological activity relating to body, vitality to brain and metabolic and anabolic immune system for the remaining parts of the body have functional significance. Oxygen, supplied through respiration is being useful in the aforementioned two ways. For that very reason, the additional oxygen obtained through the practice of Pranayama is being useful, principally, for the development of brain vitality. If so, one has to understand the state of respiration in the practice of Pranayama. Principally they have to cooperate for the regulation of inhalation, and exhalation.

While in usual respiration, 'Life Force' is delivered to all over the body, through controlled breathing, mind (principally) would acquire comfort and calm. Because of availability of more oxygen, mind would be serene. Inhalation -- exhalation is indeed an activity of natural need of life executed by every organism continuously. If so, through systemizing it, differently, and more advantage than through usual respiration is obtained to the mind. This functions as a "condenser" to the intensity of thoughts. Oxygen – entering into the blood more than that in the usual state, it (blood) not only is purified, but also there is increase of "hemo". Thereby force of motion (stimulation) increases for body cells, and neurons. With a sort of calmness to the mind by means of it, thought function decreases its intensity. When this energy (this energy that is present in the Nature), is taken into the body, it would be supplied to many cells, when it goes to the brain and when the blood is pumped there completely, it decreases tension or agitation of thoughts so that the mind does not travel towards depression, thereby, it would cause peacefulness of mind. As a result, one can feel as if new endurance, and energy have entered into the state of body, and mind. During practice of breathing, when more oxygenated blood reaches the brain, along with the decrease of natural decline of neurons because of purification, some extra neurons are generated [In accordance with scientific knowledge, except for natural decline for neurons, there is no chance, for reproduction]. Even dormant neurons are activated, and the dormant areas of brain start functioning. The new inner experiences will be established as unconnected or weakly connected neurons get connected strongly. This connectivity of neurons is done through dendrites when oxygenated blood is available in plenty in the human body. Support, would be acquired, for the centralization, of Subtle Energy. Pranayama makes the lung function better, and it would extend the lifespan too.

When appropriate quality of oxygen enters blood, with purification of this blood when it goes to brain, if meditation is added to it in a proper manner, students would not forget, memory would be good, memory function would be good, and there would be chance for balanced state of mind.

Through Pranayama, although somewhat more, oxygen, than required, can be supplied, to the brain. If so, similar to the presence of a limit, for anything – there will be, limit, even for the oxygen 'quantity' that reaches the brain. In between less – and more, although the oxygen that reaches the brain, steadily, is beneficial… if it exceeds absorption, there is a danger that, it, may give antagonistic results. For that reason, anything, whatever it may, must follow, the order of practice, discipline.

Through yoga, Pranayama, to activate, principally, metabolic, anabolic, immuno, cholesterol, state of hormones, lymph - and others that are the cause for the state of body, so also the vitality, relating to the neurons of brain, as first activity, will be useful.

Pranayama, meditation, indeed have Kundalini Yoga relationship. In connection with the practice (attainment) of Dhyana-Mano-Prasthan, for the process of Pranayama, there will be Mantra 'Yoga' too.

During the practice of breathing, when oxygenated blood reaches the brain, along with the decrease of natural decline of neurons because of purification, some extra (new) neurons are generated.....

Practice Precautions

For the practice of Pranayama, principally, the peacefulness, cleanliness of the surroundings are, needed. So also, paying attention to the state, strength of body, in suitability to that, should be the method of practice of Pranayama. Principally, by paying attention to lungs – heart, which are important parts of body, and their conditions, the process of practice has to be decided. These two parts are, the centers, for the ‘exercise’ of Pranayama.

Benefits of Pranayama

In totality, the benefits of Pranayama include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Lungs expand (purification and improvement of the functional strength of lungs; it increases the lifespan of the individual)
  2. Provides extra oxygen for a while
  3. Concentration of oxygen improves in the blood
  4. Change in blood circulation would be expressed
  5. Excretion of impurities
  6. Life Force would ignite and, drive away enemies of body
  7. Oxygen functions as 'Vital Power'
  8. Increased oxygen supply to body cells and the dead cells would be taken over by the new ones
  9. Hormones would be balanced
  10. With decrease of speed for inhalation, exhalation, oxygen would reach Bio locations, abundantly
  11.  Makes the Life Force powerful
  12. Increases the Willpower for the Functional activities
  13. Increased synthesis of Hemoglobin
  14. Minimization of thoughts (functions as Condenser to the intensity of thoughts)
  15. Decreases tension
  16. With the increase of JIva-Shakti – which is called as Jeevatmn – peacefulness would be caused at least to some extent!
  17. Mental stability and preparation of mind for meditation
  18. The lungs being stimulated, enormous vigor would be reached to the body
  19. Metabolism will be improved
  20. Activation of metabolic, anabolic, immuno, cholesterol, state of hormones, and lymph
  21. The supply of oxygen, to brain neurons, would be, more, than what is obtained through usual, natural respiration. As a result, increase of vitality, thereby, with the attainment of incitation for the activity of brain, and development of mental strength, mind would obtain, relaxation, relief… [NOTE: Similar to the presence of a limit, for anything – there will be, limit, even for the oxygen 'quantity' that reaches the brain. In between less – and more, although the oxygen that reaches the brain, steadily, is beneficial… if it exceeds absorption, there is a danger that, it, may give antagonistic results. For that reason, anything, whatever it may, must follow, order of practice, discipline….]
  22. Inhalation and exhalation of Pranayama, their control, would follow, the principal mantra, of Dhyanaprasthan. With the imitation, of "silence", the activity of breathing, by creating Energy, brain, would be inspired. With the excessiveness of oxygen, there would be purification of, neurons
  23. More oxygen reaches the nerve endings (a) The movement (stimulation) of neurons becomes regular (b) Decreases natural decline of neurons (c) Dormant neurons are activated (d) Weakly or unconnected neurons get connected (e) Some extra neurons are generated (In accordance with scientific knowledge, except for natural decline for neurons, there is no chance, for regeneration)
  24. To strengthen the functional coordination, of various parts, of neurons in the brain is, the benefit of Pranayama. Through Pranayama, there is good opportunity, for the development of vitality in neurons. It is useful for the ascertainment of ‘I.Q.’
  25. Temperature increases
  26. Reduces weight
  27. Constricted arteries open up; fat globules get dissolved (veins and arteries get blocked due to fat globules)
  28. Skin ailments get cured
  29. For mind – body, as physical benefit, the turbulence of thoughts – coming under control, habitual life, would not be remembered – for that point of time
  30. The benefit of Pranayama, supports, for the functional activity, of KunDalinI Energy

NOTE: If someone acts different to the state of body – and functional condition of respiratory organs, bodily problems, with yoga, and antagonistic results, with Pranayama will be caused. With 'excessive goodness', chances, for antagonistic results, itself, is more! There will be reaction for every action. (Force & Resist) So, that, should not become, cause for the opposite result. This is, not limited, only, to Yoga and Pranayama. This precaution will be needed, in every matter that is faced, in the execution of life, living.
